I'm not really asking, but I while I fully understand the story line, I don't understand the high ratings. This story line has been over done. Satanic worshippers who are trying to bring a demon back to all it's power by helping it to possess the ideal host. I gave it the 5 stars because of the acting and the few times I cringed while watching, but in so many ways this film leaves much to be desired. The unanswered questions it leaves you with are frustrating to say the least and the weirdness of it over powers the scary. I should know better than to trust reviews anymore.

Movie is way apart from the regular horrors we have been introduced, mysterious till the end, loss of granny followed by sequence of strange incidents in the lives of the family will grip you till the end. Great sound score, acting and screenplay is both scary nd much needed fun at times.
I must say, last time a fresh perspective to horror was Insidious by James Wann, Hereditary has Again turned the clock 360 degree to bring something new for us. br> Only dissapointment I have is a few critical scenes are cut, courtesy the great Indian cbfc. .

I watched this movie a while back and I didnt really like it, partly because I didnt understand it, and partly because of how unsettled it made me. I love horror movies. All types. But for some reason this movie really made me sick to my stomach.

I was totally bought into it being deep rooted psychosis, that would've been interesting but as soon as the supernatural came into the fray it became ridiculous.

“This all comes to a head with Charlie”. My god,what a choice of words haha
I saw this with my mom and once it showed Charlie's head she took me out of the theater and I was so embarrassed. Reminded me of an old film called, The Believers. 1:03 Peter, is it really the best time to show off your sass. Two notable moments of the film. spoilers. 1. Oscar-worthy: The mom (Annie) crying and wanting to die after losing her youngest child, Charlie. The scene basically lasted like 1 minute but felt like 5 minutes. The pain a parent, even specifically a mother, feels after losing her child was very well depicted there. Especially when the death is sudden and as gruesome as it was. 2. The son (Peter) in shock and completely numb after the death of his sister. He knows it was his fault to some extent. He probably can play the events leading to it in his head at a million miles/second at that very moment. He doesn't want to look back, but he wants to make sure she's okay when he knows she's dead. The paralytic stress reaction is well done.
